Dapoxetine (now known as Priligy) is a pharmaceutical which Johnson & Johnson hopes will soon be the only prescription medication solely designed to treat premature ejaculation. Currently no drug exists which is made to treat PE, however some anti-depressants are prescribed as "off label" medications to treat premature ejaculation.
Dapoxetine is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) but is slightly different from the SSRIs (such as Zoloft, Paxil, and Prozac) widely prescribed for depression and other psychiatric disorders.The drug was designed to be taken as needed, one to three hours before sex, instead of every day. Also, it is eliminated from the body more quickly than other SSRIs.This use of traditional SSRIs would be considered off-label since the medications are not specifically indicated for premature ejaculation. Other potential sexual side effects of SSRIs include erectile dysfunction and loss of libido, however - making the traditional antidepressants less than ideal for treatment of premature ejaculation.

A spokesperson for Johnson & Johnson told DapoxetineReview.com that the company "remains committed to the global development" of Dapoxetine.
It is possible that Dapoxetine will be available in North America sometime in the next couple of years - however there are no guarantees this will happen. If Priligy does become available, it will be available by prescription only, in 30 mg. and 60 mg. doses. You should not take Dapoxetine unless cleared to do so by a physician. Dapoxetine (Priligy) may have serious side effects and could have serious drug interactions for men taking other medications.
